CEO's Message

I have been in the web industry for nearly 20 years, 18 of them writing code. I started programming as a hobby in junior high school. I studied performing arts at Tokyo University of the Arts, and spent time at the Shiki Theatre Company before this.

As VPoE and tech lead at listed companies and ventures, I handled planning, development, hiring, and training. What became clear over that time is that technology has no value unless it is connected to the business and the organization. Good code cut off from the business decision does nothing.

In 2023 I founded ATI with engineers who saw it the same way. The name is an acronym for Overwhelming Ownership. I wanted a company that owns the decision, not one that delivers technology to spec. That is why, even as CEO, I still spend part of every week implementing and reviewing code.

Now that AI writes code, this matters more, not less. Producing an implementation got faster; what remains is deciding what to build and deciding whether to accept what came back. That is why we give AI development tools to everyone while hiring heavily for engineers with 15+ years of experience.
